Grenada looking to hold a referendum on the CCJ

The east African country of Tanzania's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by US$4.5 billion last year compared to 2011, new economic data showed.

Another oil spill reports in the waters off The Bahamas
Bahamas ministry of Transport and Aviation has reported another oil spill on Grand Bahama - the same area that an oil spill occurred this past February.
The Bahamas Oil Refining Company reported the spill last Friday. The cause of the oil spill is yet to be determined. The oil slick is said to have covered a 21-meter (70 feet) stretch of rocks on the beach in the vicinity of the oil refining company's pipelines that connect with a jetty.

The average revenue per user (ARPU) is down below the US$10 mark and amongst those operators who are really hurting, at between US$2-3 which makes the priority for mobile operators on the continent in making the transition to data urgent.

Chinua Achebe, the internationally celebrated Nigerian author, and statesman who gave literary birth to modern Africa with Things Fall Apart and continued for decades to rewrite and reclaim the history of his native country, has died. He was 82.
Achebe died following a brief illness, said his agent, Andrew Wylie.
"He was also a beloved husband, father, uncle and grandfather, whose wisdom and courage are an inspiration to all who knew him," Wylie said.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 shook parts of Trinidad on Monday but there were no reports of damage or injuries.
The St. Augustine-based Seismic Research Center of the University of the West Indies (UWI) said that the earthquake occurred at 9.23am local time (08:23 EST) on the Paria Peninsular west of Trinidad.
It said the event was located at 10.66 degrees north and 62.07 degrees west and that it was felt in the capital, Port of Spain and the western Diego Martin

(Reuters) - Jamaican sprinter Steve Mullings has lost his appeal against a lifetime ban from athletics, imposed in November 2011 for a second doping offense, the Court of Arbitration for Sport said on Monday.
Mullings, 30, who won a gold medal in the 4x100 meters relay at the 2009 world championships in Berlin, tested positive for testosterone in 2004 and for the banned diuretic furosemide in 2011.

Richard Turere 13, is a young Maasai boy who lives in Kenya's wilderness, and has been responsible for tending his family’s cattle since he was 9.
Often, he'd discover that lions had attacked in the middle of the night, feeding on the cattle his family needed to survive. "I grew up hating lions very much," Turere told CNN. "They used to come at night and feed on our cattle when we were sleeping."
