Fifth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga overcame a slow start Sunday to beat Andrey Kuznetsov of Russia 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 and reach the second round of the French Open.
Tsonga is the highest-seeded player in action on the opening day of the tournament. He is trying to become the first Frenchman since Yannick Noah in 1983 to win the French Open. His best result at Roland Garros
