First case of locally acquired case of chikungunya reported in Caribbean

The Trinidad & Tobago-based Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) Tuesday said that for the first time, locally acquired cases of chikungunya have been detected in the Caribbean region.

CARPHA said it had recently received notification of 10 confirmed cases of locally acquired chikungunya virus infection on the French side of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin.
