Anti malaria soap creation earns 2 African students $25,000 innovation award

Two African students, Gérard Niyondiko and Moctar Dembélé have won the US$25,000 Global Social Venture Competition award for their creation of a malaria repellant soap using local herbs.

Malaria is a deadly mosquito-borne disease that affects millions each year in Africa and around the world. According to figures from the World Health Organization, malaria costs an estimated US$12 billion in lost productivity in Africa per year
