Earthquake of magnitude 5.3 strikes near St. Kitts & Nevis

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 has struck near St. Kitts & Nevis on Tuesday. There have been no immediate reports of death of damage on the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) twin island-nation.

The U.S Geological Survey reported that the earthquake, which occurred at 02:53 local time (2:53 AM EST) and its epicenter was located at 17.48 degrees north and 62.14 degrees west. It had a depth of 49 kilometers (30.4 miles) and was felt in St. Kitts & Nevis, and the French speaking island of
