Capturing the Essence of the Crisis in Mali

At its purest, a social contract stipulates that if a leader does not govern equitably, his power can be recalled by the people. John Locke took this even further by stressing that people have a right and are, in fact, obligated to revolt against leaders that do not do their jobs. And like has occurred in hot spots the world over, Malians must pursue what is their right to life and happiness with the eventual victor of this current need for equilibrium
