Haiti: Plane carrying U.N. peacekeepers veers off runway - no injuries reported

Police in Haiti say a Brazilian military plane veered onto the grass next to a runway of the capital's airport after one engine caught fire as the aircraft attempted to take off. There were no injuries reported.

Airport police spokesman Max Justin says the fire erupted as the plane was speeding down the runway Sunday and the craft ran into the grass. Fire crews put out the blaze. There were burn marks visible on the plane, and its front landing-gear had snapped off.
